I’M SO EXCITED! It’s official: I’m booking in newborn baby photo shoots again in Harrogate, Knaresborough, Ripon, Pateley Bridge! So, in celebration, I thought I’d share a blog on what exactly a newborn session in your own home entails.

Newborn Memories

For me, photographing families is about capturing a moment in time. A photograph should be something that you can look at years later and be instantly taken back to that moment, feeling the emotions you felt that day. This is why you won’t find me dressing your baby up in knitted frog outfits or using fake background in a studio, I want to photograph you and your baby in your own home and photograph the raw emotion and love that you share. So if you’re like me and a sucker for nostalgia and love, these sessions are perfect for you!

Newborn Photography in Your Own Home

Being able to get professional photos of your baby at just a few days old is so special and even better, I come to you! All my newborn baby photo shoots take place in the comfort of your own home meaning you have everything you need and can feel 100% relaxed. (No need to start repacking everything you own in to your hospital bag “just in case”)

My Newborn Photography Style

My images are bright, fun and happy and as with all my photography, my style is very natural. I focus on soaking up the love and emotion of having a new baby in the house and taking lots of candid photos of your family - whether that be just Mum, Dad and baby or it includes siblings and pets too. I also make sure to get LOTS of photos of your new little arrival on their own too; their tiny little toes, their squishy little face and their precious yawns - everything they grow out of FAR too quickly (trust the mum of a 6 month old!)

What Should You Wear?

For babies, less is more. Simple vests or onesies work well and we can do some photos with just their nappy on too. Your baby is the main attraction so you don’t want anything too distracting to take away from them. Similarly, for the adults and siblings of the family, simple plain light-coloured clothes without logos or distracting patterns work best. But remember, you’ve just had a baby, so it’s most important that you feel comfortable in whatever you’re wearing.

Another benefit of being at home is that you have all your clothes so if you change your mind whilst I’m there or fancy changing babies outfit then that is no problem.

Which Rooms Will We Use For The Shoot?

Generally the best rooms to use your newborn session are the rooms that you’ll spend most time with baby relaxing: the living room, your bedroom and the baby’s nursery (if they have one). This way you all feel comfortable and happy parents and happy baby makes great photos!

What Comes With My Newborn Package

My newborn photography package is for a 1.5 hour shoot at your home and 15 images via digital download. After the shoot I will professionally edit all your images in my signature style including a mixture of colour and black & white photos and upload them in to a private online viewing gallery for you to look through at your leisure and choose your images. If you want extra such a canvases and prints these can be ordered through the gallery.
