How to Prepare For Your Blossom Mini Shoot | Harrogate Family Photographer

So you’ve booked a Mini Shoot and now you want to make sure you get the very best photos from your 15 minute session? Have a look below at some of the most Frequently Asked Questions I get asked.

What Should We Wear?

Naturally, when you’re having a photo shoot, you want everybody to look their very best. My advice is to wear colours that compliment each other, but don’t match completely and think about what colours might look good with the natural backdrop. For blossom photos, I find pastel colours are always a winner, along with bright colours - pinks, greens, yellows, blues etc. Also try to avoid logos and big cartoons on t-shirts if you can as these can be distracting - block colours work best!

How Do I Prepare My Children For The Shoot?

On the day, get your children excited for the shoot before you set off. Let them know that you’ll be meeting me and taking some family photos and that it will be lots of fun. We’ll do lots of playing to make them feel comfortable in front of the camera but if they are very young and you want to bring along a toy to help make them smile, then please do! Puppets are always a great one! When you arrive, let them be themselves and don’t worry if it takes them time to warm up, if you get grumpy with them then they’ll more than likely get grumpy back at you and those photos are never good ones.

What Time Should We Arrive?

So this is a really important one! Mini shoots are booked back to back with other families so it’s really important that you don’t arrive late as I won’t be able to allocate you any additional time if you’re late. Each session lasts 15 minutes and I’ve given myself 5 minutes between sessions to get back to the meeting point. I always advise families check traffic updates ahead of setting off and try to arrive 5-10 minutes early at our meeting spot to ensure you don’t miss out on any valuable shooting.

Can I Purchase Additional Digitals or Prints?

Absolutely! After your session you will receive a choosing gallery of your images and if you wish to purchase more digital copies than the 8 included in your package, or prints of your photos you can do so from your gallery. Extra digital images are just £5 and prints start at £10 as I want to keep your photos affordable.

When Will My Photos Be Ready To View?

Your gallery will be sent to you via email within 3 weeks of your photo shoot!

Can I bring my dog?

Absolutely! They’re part of the family too and I love dogs.
